What you're seeing is a house with a history and, if you look just right, a look into the future.

First off, I'm a Swift-ie. Guilty as charged.

This song gets us into the question of whether a house can have a personality.

OF COURSE IT CAN!

When you move in, you may see the scuffs from where the previous owner's table was. Maybe scratches on the door from a dog who wanted to jump into bed.

Maybe you see a vegetable garden that hasn't been maintained. Maybe a basketball hoop that's seen better days.

What you're seeing is a house with a history and, maybe, if you look just right, a look into the future. Maybe you'll watch your kids grow up here. Maybe you are a dog person and didn't even know it (this happened to me!). Maybe your wife will finally take up horticulture.

Even a new construction can have a personality. Its apparently blank canvas can map out the life the builder thinks someone (you?) want.

Lean in. Listen. Maybe you can hear the house whisper....
